A small family ranch.

The name comes from the land itself. Our ranch sits tucked between two forks of the Grand River, on ground shaded by enormous old oak trees that have stood here longer than any of us. Those rivers and those oaks gave the place its name — and its character.

Our family has been farming this ground since 1979. For decades it was row crops and hay, long days on the tractor, and the steady rhythm of the seasons. Farming was the foundation, and the land taught us patience long before it taught us anything about livestock.

Over time we started easing into the animal side of things — a few head at first, then a small group of Angus cattle. They taught us everything: how to read the weather, how to work a chute, how to keep water flowing in January and shade waiting in July. Every season added something new, and slowly the ranch you see today took shape.

Once the cattle side of the ranch found its rhythm, we started bringing in goats and sheep. They were smaller, easier for the boys to handle, and honestly a lot of fun to be around. Each one has a unique personality, and they've become a big part of what makes the mornings worth getting up for.

They clear brush, keep the pasture healthy, and keep us laughing. Between the cattle and the bigger herd, the ranch started to feel whole — a real working place, not just an idea we'd talked about.

After a while we decided we wanted to get into mini cows. It didn't go the way we hoped at first — we actually got scammed trying to buy some, which was frustrating. But we kept looking and eventually found the right pair: two registered mini Highlands named Diego and Clementine.

They were too young to breed when we got them, so we waited. During that time we spent every day with them and got attached. Later we took in three miniature Herefords — Rose, Tulip, and Daisy — from a lady who could no longer care for them. When the time was right, we ended up with four healthy calves, now ready to find loving homes of their own.

What started as a dad and his boy wanting to work the land together is now a family ranch with cattle, goats, sheep, and a mini herd we love. Thanks for coming to visit.
